About Us

Curcuma is a plant-based food truck with a menu inspired by the idea that food is medicine. We're looking for energetic, responsible, turmeric-loving, detail-oriented, people to join the team. Our business is dedicated to deliciously nourishing food, excellent service, local sourcing, sustainable operations, and living up to our mission of creating “Food With Intention”.

About You

You're someone who loves plant-based food and is motivated, dedicated, and excited to join a small company and make your mark. You have experience in both large and small companies, and enjoy the all-hands-on-deck approach of a small biz, similar to a start-up environment. You're organized, clean, and see a potential for increasing efficiency in every environment. You can demonstrate a basic knowledge of plant-based food and a willingness to learn about superfoods and Ayurveda.

    You are:

    • Self-guided and able to fulfill assigned tasks with efficiency and attention to detail
    • A multi-tasking ninja, and feel comfortable toggling between customer service and food prep

    Requirements (for food truck positions)

    • Prior food industry experience
    • Mastery of cooking basics and willingingness to learn and uphold commercial kitchen standards
    • Comfortable working solo during both slow and busy times
    • Open availability, no late evenings required
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time, in a sometimes hot environment (truck has AC, but hey, this is still TX)
    • Valid Food Handlers Card registered with the City of Austin
     

    crew member

    minimum 2 shifts per week

    • Complete opening/closing duties to prepare the truck for service, and set the next shift up for success

    • Consistently prepare and serve menu items according to set standards

    • Provide excellent customer service including taking orders and offering recommendations and education about the menu and ingredients used (when needed)


    shift lead

    minimum 3-4 per week | weekends required

    • Fulfill Crew Member responsibilities (listed above)
    • Manage weekly inventory and check daily par levels
    • Maintain organization of dry and cold storage in truck
    • Maintain standards for cleaning in compliance with health code
    • Provide daily shift notes and identity opportunities to improve ongoing truck operations
    • Shift-related errands including water, ice, grocery runs

    Operations/kitchen Manager

    minimum 30 hours per week | weekends required

    • Fulfill Shift Lead responsibilities (listed above)
    • Manage food prep/production schedule
    • Place orders for food, supplies, and disposables
    • Manage truck maintenance and repairs (as needed)
    • Ongoing research for cost-effective and high quality ingredients, and sustainable packaging
    • Clear and consistent communication with owner and employees about updates, standards, and available resources
    • Contribute to employee handbook, guidelines, and customer service resources
    • Update, manage and utilize operations documents including: Master Cost List, Prep Recipes, Weekly Pars, Recipe Cost Breakdown, Sales Reports
    • Review inventory and sales data (create reports as needed) and provide recommendations to improve cost margins and production workflow

    Field Marketing/Farmers Market Staff

    • Available on Sundays for Mueller Farmers Market (~7 hour shifts, 1-2x per month)
    • Set-up and breakdown of the booth
    • Serve our signature Golden Mylk (and other items at times)
    • Provide excellent customer service and explain the health benefits of turmeric and our products
    • Must have reliable transportation that can carry products to and from the market
    • Must be able to lift 40lbs and work in Texas weather
    • Punctuality and reliability is required, food handling experience is a plus

    social media intern

    5-1o hours per week 

    • Design for printed material including signage, product design, and marketing collateral
    • Digital design for social media, newsletter, blog, events
    • Social media planning and scheduling
    • Create newsletter, blog, and website updates
    • Stipend available, with potential to hire part-time
